Jim Florance began playing bass drum in 1977. He started to repaint drums at almost the same time. He couldn't afford the costs to buy a new drum. Instead, he used his ingenuity and creativity to purchase a used drum and refurbish it .
Jim switched to playing snare drum with several NYC area Fife and Drum Corps. He got married to his wife Deirdre and continued living in the New York area, until 1996 when he moved to Pennsylvania.
He started making drums as a hobby a few years until he decided to do it more as a business. He has attended many reenactments and Fife and Drum Corps events over the years.
Over the last few years Jim has had some health issues. It effected his ability to go to all the events that he had been attending. Jim is now doing much better and his son, Jimmy, is taking up some of the responsibility. The Florances will be creating a quality product for years to come. Jim would also like to thank his entire family for getting behind this effort and making customers very satisfied with our drums.
